Low freq vibration fft

Post by FortvilleFeeders »

We make vibratory feeder bowls that run at 60 +/- 10 Hz on a sturdy steel frame and plate. Sometimes we get cross-talk between two or more components on the plate that cause some components to not function. I plan to use a FFT analyzer and accelerometer to diagnose what frequencies I'm fighting, where to brace the top plate, and eventually reduce cost by designing the tables more efficiently. Which model would be best?

Hi FortvilleFeeders,

I would expect any inter-modulation and harmonics to still be relatively low frequencies so the answer to your question really depends upon how long you have to capture/log data for, and to what accuracy you need to be able to see the results of your capture. You will be limited to a choice of a PicoScope model from one of our series of PicoScopes, or a PicoLog 1000 data logger, because you will need to run PicoScope 6 to be able to get an FFT plot.

The more information you can provide about the measurement the better we will be able to advise you.
