10000 wfs/sec interest

Post by Volt230 »

Hi

First of all sorry for my bad English :)

I have a question:
Whats the interest of an oscilloscope 10000 wfs/sec. In face the screen of the PC is only refreshed each 10ms(100Hz)…?

Someone can help me to understand?

Thanks for your help
BR

It is not related to how quickly it can draw on the PC screen, it is related to how quickly it can capture data into the internal buffers of the scope allowing you to see events that happen fast.

Hi
Thanks for your reply

Its difficult for me to understand:
if the base time of the scope is configured for 100us/DIV, one complete screen = 1ms
in this case in one second the scope can draw 1000 waveforms (1000x1ms) not 10 000...

i'm wrong?

It's all related to how fast the scope can capture data when at its fastest settings, not what it does at all settings.
