How is Samples setting default derived?

Post by terrypin »

When I start a new session the number of samples is always set by default to 16k. How is that determined and why is it so low?

I’m using a 2205A with PicoScope 6.11.10 on an XP Pro.

Hi

The 2205A has an internal memory of 16k which is why that's the default when its connected in PicoScope 6

Thanks Neil. Would there ever be any reason for leaving it at that extremely low level, given that all PicoScopes must be connected to a PC, with vastly more memory available?

Can you help me further please? What should be a reasonable preferred setting for me currently, working on monostables with periods of 5 to 30 s, triggered typically by 100 ms signals? I want to view the results over say 60 s and then zoom in on detail.
