2204A integrated signal function/ no signal

Hi, i´m a student and i wanted to getting starting with oscilloscope so i bought the usb 2204A pc oscilloscope.
and as i wanted to use the integrated function generator nothing was to seen on the screen. it would be great if someone can tell me if i understood this thing wrong or if there is a problem with my device itself.

Have you connected the signal generator output to either of the input channels?

Could you tell me please which kind of cable I need for this?

Either a BNC to BNC cable, or you can use an oscilloscope probe putting the BNC end onto channel A and the probe tip into the centre of the SigGen output connector.
