Streaming mode at high rate

Post by dman23 »

Hi,
I want to capture data at 60MHZ for, lets say, 1-2sec (preferably more).
If posible, for 2 channels.

Is there a product that may suit my needs?
I see the picoscopes have USB3, which supports such high rates, but i couldnt find any documentation stating a streaming mode faster than 10MHz is availabe, which seems a bit odd...

Hi dman23,

This is being responded to via your e-mail support ticket.

The figures we quote for PicoScope is when the device is on a USB 2.0 port. I will request an update for USB 3.0 as well.

Mabey is it an option to raise the streaming speed in the picoscope software for USB3 units.

I own an 4444 unit and it would be nice to stream at higher rates on long timebases settings.
And i would like to know what the max speed is that the SDK can do with this scope (and other USB3 scopes)

Hi bennog,

The maximum streaming rates for our PicoScopes, when using the SDK are (mostly) stated in the specifications for the specific PicoScope on our website. If the spec is not on the website it will be in the Programmers Guide (as it is for the PicoScope 4444, which is 160MS/s).

The USB 3 streaming rates in PicoScope 6 have been set to not overload the computer resources, but may be reviewed in future versions (the SDK rates have been set according to the practical USB 3 transfer limit, as SDK users would tend to manage the resources better).

Hi bennog,

I have requested our Development Team to provide this information as the driver will allow a streaming rate of 100 MS/s when calling the ps4000aRunStreaming() function, but this does not guarantee loss-less data collection.

There should be an update to the data sheet, website specifications and Programmer's Guide.

For the other USB 3.0 oscilloscopes, please refer to the specifications for the PicoScope 3000D/D MSO, 4824 and 6000C/D Series models.

Ok when I have some time to spare will try to get the most out if it.
See how far I can push my PC (i7, 16Gb Ram, 1TB SSD)
So this will be a nice experiment.

Benno
