Monitor function and distortion measurements

Post by JSE009 »

When measure distortion of a signal it would be nice when it is possible to display the distortion signal in the scope function (monitor function) and I believe it is not possible in the current version of Picoscope?

Hi JSE009,

Not quite sure what you mean by "distortion signal in the scope monitor function"? Any signal will obviously include any associated distortion. However, if you want to see just the distortion on it's own, then you can only view it, in Scope view, as excess signal level (if you have a non-distorted copy of the original signal) using a Math channel to subtract the non-distorted signal from the distorted one (e.g. if looking at the input and output of an amplifier), although any phase distortion will obviously complicate things. Alternatively, you can view the additional harmonics created in Spectrum View (assuming you know what you are expecting to see).

Also, could you explain what you mean by "Scope monitor function"?
