VLF Monitoring capabilities

Post by David Estes »

I am performing research in the subHertz spectrum and am interested in performing spectral analysis of and displaying signals that extends out to 0.0001 HZ. Obviously a conventional scope and many spectrum analyzers are useless in this range, but software based instuments can perform the task easily. Does the spectral analysis and display functions of any of your instrument software accomodate this requirement, or is it modifiable to this requirement?

Hi,

Thank you for your post and interest in our products.

To measure subHertz I believe that you need to sample over long period of time with out breaks in the data, if I correct (let me know if I am not), then you would require a unit that can stream. The latest units PS3000 series are all usb and capable of streaming data.

Unfortunately, the standard software that is provided with this unit is not capable of calculating subHertz, however with the driver set it is possible to write your own software.

Best regards
