ADC100 and WindowsME

Post by dadod »

I used ADC100 picoscope for years on my old desktop with Windows 95.
Now I switched to an old laptop with WindowsME and paralel port.
Scope is showing some disturbances but not usable traces.
Did I need some paralel port addapter????
I have dowloaded a new software from here, but the sane problem as with DOS originally delivered with the hardware.
thanks

Hi,
On some computers the parallel ports are not up to the job for our products. Unfortunately there is no real alternative, we used to make parallel to USB adapters however these have become obsolete. The only alternatives you have is to either try another computer or look for another product really, we have a range of oscilloscopes that are USB based. What application are you using the ADC100 for?

Kind regards

Hi ziko,
I do not understand what you mean by "On some computers the parallel ports are not up to the job for our products"
I used ADC-100 on an old desktop with 3.06 pico software.
Now I've got an old laptop (but no so old as the desk top), tried the same old 3.06 software and it is running bur scope does not measure anything just some noise.
Then I downloaded pico 5.16.3 32bit software and result was the same. I don' think that a parallel port on the laptop is physicall different, maybe some software drivers are needed for WindowsME as this is operating program running on the laptop.
Could you advice?

Hi some parallel ports do not deliver enough voltage to power the ADC100 and as such it does not work properly. 5.16.2 should work on older operating systems. All the necessary drivers will be installed with 5.16.2.

If it isn't a hardware problem I suppose the only other thing you can try is some older versions of the software:

I tried picoscope on two notebooks with the same result.
Maybe all notebooks don't have enough valtage or carrent.
How I can power ADC-100 from outside power source, what
valtage/current do it need?
