I have to datalog a status SEM 1100 isolating transmitter that produces a 4-20mA 2 wire signal at 24v. Two wire connection is possible with the EL037 however the logger unit will not accept voltages in excess of 20V. Can a resistor be used inline to reduce the voltage, if so what resistor is required.
I would prefer to use the Status unit to provide the active power to the system however if the EL037 becomes active rather than passive, I would need to then wire the two core loop with the voltage terminal from each analogue input tot he EL037.
A good wiring schedule would then be good as the EL037 would then provide the correct voltage whilst the Status transmitter would then become passive.

EL037 20v max input with 4-20mA current

HI Stuart,
I am not sure if I follow everything you are saying. Are you trying to have 20V on the input channels?
Kind regards

Re: EL037 20v max input with 4-20mA current
Issues resolved the EL037 can accept upto 30V - I was given the wrong information. Data logger now works very well with the Status SEM1100 isolators - these enables isolation between transmitters and datalogger.
