Math operation with PicoScope6

Post by Julio »

Hi,

I just got two new Picoscope 3205 for our students lab but I have been unable to find the right PicoScope6 function to do what we want. We are measuring an input signal (ch1) and an oputput signal (ch2), and we want to have (peak to peak output) divided by (peak to peak input). Pretty easy! (If I use log and I measure for several frecuencies I think that's a Bode diagram). I know how to obtain peak to peak values, but I don't know how to divide them in real time. A math channel won't work, I think, since I have a phase difference between the signals. Any help?

Hmm I have had a think about this and I may have a solution for you but it does not involve PicoScope 6. Depending on your sample rate (1kS/s max) you can take use PicoLog Recorder. In this you can record your readings and then under the spreadsheet view you and choose to see minimum and maximum readings every x samples. You can then export the data into a spreadsheet and do the calculations there.

Let me know if you need any help with this.

Kind regards

Thanks. It seems that I have to wait for a new version of your software! I am afraid I am in the upper part of the scale. I am working from kHz to MHz. Any other idea?

The only thing I can think of really is if you do this manually, really.

So you would have to save your data in text, csv, or binary(.mat) form. Then do analysis on it using a spreadsheet, or even using Matlab (if you have it!).
