current monitoring kit

Post by mattboffin »

Hi

I am trying out your EL040 current monitor kit on the bench. The problem is current readings are much higher than expected.( showing 65 amps when clamped to a 1 amp circuit)The clamps supplied are PDI CA-300 and not the TA011 as stated in the manual. The clamps have been set to 1mA although either setting makes no difference. Is this a known problem? do i have to alter any settings?

Thanks

Hi the TA011 is just our part number, the current clamp, we changed clamps nearly 2 years ago. It does not make a difference which one you use as long as it can give you a 1mV/A output.

Can you plug it into a multimeter to see what voltage this gives you?

Kind regards

hi , i have same issue, current reading shows 35 to 40 amps when , using a current clampmeter, i am only reading 1.1 to 1.2 amps. i have connected the clamps into a dvm and this shows same reading as the clampmeter !!!!!, seems to be a scaling or read error

That is strange, what version of the software are you using? Also what operating system are you using?

Best regards
