I have an Enviromon EL005 logger and an EL037 converter. After installing the envirmon software and using a seriel to usb converter cable to connect the logger to my laptop and the logger to the converter i tried to set up a basic test to see whether anything was working together and to see would i get any result on my PC.
My problem is after taking a guided tour beacuse i am new to this product i get to a stage where i enter the logger and the converter and once i proceed i get a message saying "ERROR ,get logger version".What would be the way of finding out whether the software, logger and converter are working together?

Hi this is because it cannot communicate with the logger. There are a number of things to check.
1) First of all does your USB to serial converter appear in device manager?
2)If so what com port number does it appear at.
3) Choose the corresponding com port number on our software.
4) Is the light of the EL005 logger flashing?

Yes it is compatible with Windows 7, on your Windows XP machine did you use a USB to serial converter or a normal serial port?

On the windows XP machine i used the seriel to USB. With the Windows 7 machine i set up a simple configuration. i then disconnected the logger and converter from the machine and then connected it back up after 10 minutes of monitoring. When i tried to open the program it told me there was an app crash and error. the enviromon program will not open .

Did the USB to serial converter change port numbers this might cause a crash if it cannot find a COM port?
