Serial TC-08 connecting to laptop USB

Postby stevejlc » Mon Aug 09, 2010 1:16 pm

I am having problems with serial TC-08 product.

I have had the hardware for quite a few years, it has been running ok on an old laptop with a serial port and serial cable.

I am now trying to use the TC-08 on a newer laptop (windows 7), which has no serial port. I have tried using the USB connection on the laptop with a USB to serial, cable. I can't get the laptop to recognise the TC-08. Which software download should I use?

TC-08 serial or TC-08 USB?

Can anyone please help?

Hi you would still install the software as serial TC-08. What your problem may be is that when you use a USB to serial converter you may have plugged in the USB adapter into the TC-08 and then into the PC.

What you would need to do is plug the USB to serial converter into the USB port WITHOUT the TC-08, then you would need to check what COM port it was assigned to under device manager (Ports (COM & LPT)). Then plug in the TC-08 and run the Picolog software and choose the appropriate COM port.

Kind regards
