Thermocouple type

Hi,
We are using K-type thermocouples but have two different kinds, one type are stiff and very awkward to work with and the other type are flimsy (like string) and are very nice to work with. could anybody tell me what the two different types are I've seen Exposed wire, PTFE insulated and Exposed wire, fibreglass insulated would this be the difference? If so could somebody point out which type is the easier to work with i.e. the string type feel.

Hi,

The PTFE exposed wired probes we have, have a range of -75degC to 250degC, whilst the Exposed wire fiberglass have a range from -60 to 35degC.

Fiberglass will absorb moisture and cannot be used for immersion in liquids as it is a braid, it also much stiffer and thicker than the equivalent PTFE.

PTFE on the other retains its flexibility down to -75C. It is resistant to acid or chemical attack. The thin wall insulation reduces space and weight.
