Generating a single pulse with picoscope 2203

Post by gstanghe001 »

Hi to all,
I'm developing a linux application to generate a chirp pulse, the problem I'm facing with is that the waveform (pulse) is indefinitely repeated while I'm searching a way to only emit one of them.
I used the patched library for picoscope 2203 and I'm using the library function ps2000_set_sig_gen_arbitrary.
Is there a way to obtain such behaviour ?

Thanks in advance,
Giuseppe Stanghellini

Hi Giuseppe

Unfortunately, it's not possible to generate a single pulse.

You can disable the signal generator by calling the function and setting the amplitude to zero, but I guess that doesn't really help you.

Sorry I can't be more help!

Hi Robin,
thanks for your prompt reply, in fact I tried the option to turn off signal generation by calling the function with a waveform set to zero, but while this is feasible, apparently the picoscope generate transitional spikes for the first 100/200 cycles of the signal generator and this is not acceptable by our application.
Am I making something wrong ? Is there a way to not have those spikes ? Maybe with correct usage of ps2000_sig_gen_arbitrary parameters ?

kind regards,
Giuseppe

Assuming that you are setting both the offeset and peak-to-peak values to zero, then the transients you are seeing is unavoidable.

The device was not designed to output single pulses.
