Data acquisition of sound pulse with piezo disc

Post by markmark »

I was looking to find a device to acquire samples of a 5MHz square or sine-wave pulse emitted by a piezo disc. I was looking at the picoscope 2205, but I'm not sure that I will get the resolution that I want out of this device. For my application, it is important to know the time that the 5MHz signal is received as accurately as possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi,
The 2205 voltage resolution is 8 bit, so 256 steps from the extremes of any range selected. If you think that is not enough, the next step up is to the 4224, 12 bit scope with 4096 steps. With a square wave the 2205 will be just as good but with a sine wave or a slowly rising signal the extra resolution of the 4224 might be better.

PeterF.
