Post by Fred »

Hi
I am looking for a scope to do audio and auto
I think a read that the auto scopes will only work with the auto software
will the auto scope work with the std scope software also
The 20Mhz or 10Mhz is fine for the audio repiar and testing
I was looking at the the 3223 would that be a good unit for this applaction

Thanks

Hi Fred,

Our automotive scopes (as well as there general purpose equivalents) have the highest resolution in our scope range. So you are correct to look at this range. In terms of audio, bandwidth will not make a difference and the extra features. However in terms automotive use the 4000 is better value for money, as it has memory that is 64 times longer, i.e. you can sustain high sample rates for much longer periods of time. You also have a higher bandwidth and higher sample rates.

Kind regards

Fred,

The automotive scopes will work with either the automotive or standard 6.xx software versions. The non-automotive scopes will not work with the automotive software.

For the most part, the automotive software will do what the standard version does with added automotive features. New features often appear in the standard software first and then the automotive later. It's been some time since I played with the standard software so I'm sot familiar with the current differences.

Hi yes like Tom says, generally the non automotive software tends to have more updates. However this is primarily due to the fact that these changes are specific to a non automotive product (i.e. bug fixes) Currently the full release is the same for automotive as it is for the general purpose one.
