Low Frequency

Postby ayounis » Fri Sep 11, 2009 5:53 am

Hello,

used Scope: 2204
used SW: PicoScope r6.2.13

when measuring signals with low frequencies, e.g. 1 Hz or less, I find myself in a need to use longer "time base" values, e.g. 500 ms/div.

when doing so, the software becomes extremely slow and in some cases unresponsive.

please advise.

regards

Hi for measurements to work properly you need two cycles from a waveform. When choosing timebase from 200ms and slower the device will operate in a different mode, streaming. However this should not slow down your computer. What OS are you running and how much RAM do you have?

Kind regards

it is an HP PC running Vista, 3 GB RAM, Dual core Intel.

I would like to clarify one thing here: it is not slowing down the PC but rather picoscope itself renders unresponsive

Hi it should not do that, your computer should easily be able to cope, infact any computer that can run Windows XP should be able to cope. What I would suggest is to download a newer version of our software which you can find on the link below:

thanks for the update... I am already using the mentioned release. so as I contacted tech support before and I was offered a replacement unit. as support process did not go thru any troubleshooting steps I was hesitant to accept the offer.

in such case do you think a replacement is a good offering?

Hi,

We would need to have a look at the unit to see if there is problem with it. Please email us at support@picotech.com if you wish to do this, with your full contact details and a link to this post, also with your serial number.

Kind regards
