Trigger/Capture Date from .psdata file

Post by Big 10 Inch »

Hello,

Is it possible to pull the trigger settings and other information from a psdata file? If so, how do I do it?

Thanks!

Hi

Your trigger settings are stored in the psdata file. When you open a psdata file, those trigger settings will be applied.

It is not possible to tell when a waveform was captured.

Hope this helps

Thank you for the quick response, Robin.

Let me clarify a little further. I can see/interpret the following when opening a psdata file: trigger channel, threshold, pre-trigger, and rising/falling edge.

Is there anyway to determine the number of samples, resolution enhancement used for each channel, and other probe settings?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi

Clicking on the "channel options" button will show the probe that was selected and the resolution enhancement. This can also be seen by clicking on the "properties" tab on the right hand side.

The number of samples and sample rate will also be shown when clicking on the "properties" tab

Thanks Robin! I have never noticed the properties tab before! The channel options buttons, however, are grayed out and unable to be clicked.

Thanks again!

You never answered the (implied) question about the grayed out channel options buttons:

The channel options buttons, however, are grayed out and unable to be clicked.

Hi

The channel and trigger settings will be greyed out if there is no device connected.

So how does one get the info out of the file without a converter attached? We need to be able to share data files and analyze the traces without passing the scope itself back and forth. Can we put a line into an initialization file of some sort? (I seem to recall having to put a "forcedevice=1112" line or some such thing into such a file in Picoscope 5 to be able to even read saved traces at all without a scope attached.) Thanks.

The channel information should be under properties. Currently the only way to see the trigger info is from the yellow diamond on the screen.

I have suggested that we enhance the software by making more trigger details available when loading saved waveforms.

Opening Files Without Converter

Post by Autonerdz »

hillp,

To open a data file without the converter attached so that the values are filled in, choose the appropriate demo device when prompted.

Open PicoScope, say yes to demo device, choose the appropriate one. Then file/open your data file from within PicoScope.

At this time, Pico 6 has a bug that will display these values incorrectly for many custom probes but standard voltages should come up OK.
