Cann't detect PS3424

Post by Guest »

Hi,

I use Vista home+SP1. PS SW version 6.20.18, PS3424.

When I connect PS3424 via any of my Laptop USB ports, I am always promped with same problem: "No suitable device was found...". Same result is observed when I try to re-scan the PS3424 through File>Connect Device option.

Currently I can connect PS3424 to a different PC running XP, with the same PS SW version.
Any ideas how to overcome this issue ?

Hi Dudi,

On the Vista machine can you find the device listed in device manager under universal serial bus controllers?

Yes I can. It appears under USB controllers session. No yellow or '?' are shown.

Hi Dudi,

Hmm interesting, I tried it on a vista laptop and didn't encounter the same problem. What laptop have you got? Do you have full admin rights on your computer?

Kind regards

Hey Ziko,

Yes I have admin privileges.
My Laptop is LG R405. Actually we tried installing on two different laptops and we encountered exactly the same results.
When tried yo update drivers (through Device Manager) it always returned stating that the current installed drivers are up-to-date ones.

Hi Dudi,

Are both the laptops the same? If not what is the other laptop? I might have a theory.

Cheers

Hi I am just trying to establish if there is a similarity between chip sets. Could you tell me the model name of the laptop.

Hey Ziko,

I believe we should look for drivers issue. Note that although the USB identifies the connected external device the application does not.
I can run the Demo with no problems. I guess this is good indication that the PS application was installed OK.

Yes exactly Dudi, my point is I have seen the odd laptop or so which encounter a similar problem I suspect it is due to the nVidia chipset on modern motherboards which deal with the multimedia and USB. The first laptop you told me you had has this chipset, I was just trying to establish if the second one also has it, so I can try and see a correlation.

Kind regards

Understood. I don't have the IBM with me so I can't give a proper answer for your request. Please let me know exactly what you are asking for.

Hi Dudi, just the model name should be fine (e.g. LG R405 ), I will be able to find out what the chipset is by going on their website.

Ziko,

The other model is IBM ThinkPad X31, running XP.

Hmmm interesting,

That renders my theory useless LOL! That laptop uses an intel chipset. Could you try the following for me then, go into device manager select the PS3000 and select properties and choose the details tab can you copy and paste the Device Instance ID (on any of the two laptops)

Kind regards

Dudi,

When I have seen this issue it usually because the drivers did not install properly. Plugging in the hardware before software was installed or just didn't take properly for some other reason.

Just an idea....

Have you removed the device from device manager and tried to install it again?

With the scope plugged in and PicoScope closed, go into device manager and uninstall that device. Then unplug it and plug it back in to go through the found new hardware wizard again, making sure to select automatic install. On some PCs, you will be encounter two found new hardware wizards. Be sure to wait a minute in case you get a second one.
