Output of spectrum in dBV mode

Post by Narendr »

Hi,

I started recently using picoscope 4262 with picoscope 7 software.
The mode I am using is spectrum with frequency range 1Hz to 5MHz with dBV as log unit, bin and windowing settings varies in my case.
I see kind of results which I presume to be good, but the issue is with real spectrum analysers we get results in dBm/√Hz, but in case of Picoscope it applies FFT in spectrum mode. Now, the question is does the result when exported to csv is the result which I get is dBV/√Hz or dBV/√bin width(Hz). I assuming as dBV/√bin width(Hz), correct me if I am wrong. In some of the forums I read the output is directly Vrms, which I guess is not the case. Can someone please confirm it ?

Best Regards

Hi Narendra,
The csv exports from picoscope 7 software are in Unit/ √bin width(Hz) not Unit/ √width(Hz).
Units can be changes in the Spectrum -> Axis options-
Linear (volts), Log - dBV, dBu, dbm, Arbitrary dB.
And change Y-axis on graph so see what your exporting.
