Save screen data to csv file

Post by xaviery »

Dear all,
I'd like to ask you a question about Picoscope6 or Picoscope7 concerning save data to csv file.
In fact, I need to save the data displayed (after zoomed) on screen to file (csv), but I am abliged to save all data: too much memory occupation.
I only need to save the data selected on screen.
Do you have a such function with Picoscope7?
Many thanks in advance
Xavier

I have not found a way of saving a part of a single waveform. Fortunately I can cope with the 50MB csv file but I have also used the MatLab 4 file option in 'save as' which saves a very small file compared to the csv. If you have MatLab or in theory Octave (free software licensed under the GNU General Public License), you can then extract the part you want and process it or save it to what ever file type you desire. Many thanks for your answer.
I have converted a data file into *.m (under picoscope6, in fact, I don't find "Save as" with picoscope7?).
Therefore, Octave read only *.mat (not *.m)
I will discuss with my colleague who uses Matlab if there is a solution.
Kind Regards
Xavier

The V7 Save function provides the option to switch file types but unfortunately that does not offer the .mat option, just csv, tab delimited text and 2 ps data options which I do not understand.

Hi -
I've got the same problem- I need to convert the psdata to matlab format, and my data is too large to go through csv first. I was able to do this in Picoscope 6. Is there an ETA for this capability on Picoscope 7? Alternatively, should I uninstall v7 and go back to v6?

thx!
Mark

The latest version of PicoScope 7 allows you to save a file in .mat format, this feature has been around for a little while now.

Martyn,
My apologies. You were right and I was wrong. I had correctly downloaded the newest release and installed it, but due to user error on my part was still running the slightly older release of V7. Uninstalled the old, reinstalled the new, and all good.

I like the updated user feel of the V7, btw.

thx for the prompt feedback and for the great scopes Picotech makes!
