Trigger "window" in "Scope Mode".

Post by Maks »

Hello.
Sometimes there was a need to view the waveform in "Scope Mode"
with a trigger "window", but the periodic appearance and disappearance of the signal
created the inconvenience of viewing (in "Persistence Mode" it is convenient to view). Question: can is it possible to make such a function or to correct it in "Scope Mode"?
Or does it need to be fixed in the device program (in firmware)?
Other manufacturers' oscilloscopes have this feature.
Or maybe only my oscilloscope has this problem?

Thanks.

Hi, It looks as if your signal is fairly noisy so the simple edge trigger is sometimes triggering on the noise. To trigger on such a signal try using the advanced edge trigger and increasing the hysteresis - see here for more details https://www.picotech.com/library/oscill ... ggers#adva

Hi.
Here is the result-Video file: https://yadi.sk/i/rEedQklZSxJaGw

In the "Persistence Mode" mode the "window" trigger can capture the image waveforms, but
in the "Scope Mode" this is not possible (with signal different waveforms and speeds).

Very, very good device, small and handy. Might be able to fix?

Thanks.

It is because you have only about 11 samples per complete sine wave.
Therefore in some cases 1 sample is above trigger window and 1 sample is below trigger window.

The "window" trigger did not work in the "scope mode" mode
(it did not capture the "AC" signal simultaneously on two fronts), but in the "Persistence Mode"
it worked fine. And not only sine wave, but also other signal forms: am, fm, triangle
and others..., and in different ranges: from a few hertz to tens of megahertz.
Or is it done on purpose?
Or maybe I didn't understand something?
Can you explain in more detail if it's not difficult for you?

Thanks.

I am not sure what you want to see in scope mode, because the window trigger works as expected.

2022-10-26_10-28-51.png
It triggers when the signal leaves the window in the above images.

I guess you want to want to trigger on disappearance of the signal ?
Or do I mis something, in your presistence mode you see 2 sine waves but that is not how the real signal looks.
