Serial Decoding: Quadrature Encoder

Dear Forum and PicoScope Support Team,
I am using the new feature of the picoscope software to decode a quadrature encoder input.

It seems to work quite well. The quadrature signal is also clear to me (direction and quad counts etc.) but I don't get what the Start and End Time means in this context. Shouldn't it be just time events at the flanks of the phase shifted inputs? What is meant with start and end here?
