Differential reading with 5000 series PicoScope

Post by StefanoP »

Hi,

I wanted to double check if the 5000 series PicoScope is suitable for the following application.

I have a sensor which is triggered by a ~15V waveform and outputs a ±20mV differential signal. I plan to generate the 15V signal using the PicoScope signal generator and an instrumentation amplifier. I plan on reading the output using a single-ended input and the ground reference, if that's suitable. I will read the output signal back using two other single-ended inputs and a math channel.

So the inputs will be configured as follows:
Ch1: sensor output + (20mV range)
Ch2: sensor input + (20V range)
Ch3: sensor input - (20V range)
Reference ground: sensor output -

Would that be ok using the reference ground for basically mimicking a differential input? I would have used a 4444 PicoScope but I need the signal generator output.

Thanks

If all ground references are the same then this is no problem.
