Pico 7 for iPAD?

Post by postman23 »

Are there any plans to allow Pico 7 to work with an iPAD?

Hi postman23,

To answer your question, we currently develop in an environment that provides cross-platform compatibility between computer based operating systems, and we have decided to support the 3 operating systems of Windows, Mac OS, and limited distributions of Linux (so this does not include iOS or android). The GUIs of computer based operating systems are significantly different to those of mobile platforms such as iPads and iPhones, so having to support iOS or iPadOS would currently not align with our business strategy.

Then there is also the issue of whether or not the USB port of an iPad provides sufficient current, to drive a PicoScope and whether or not it would handle the start-up procedure of our devices successfully.

However, purely as a control surface, you could control a PicoScope remotely using VNC, which means that the iPad could be controlling it (with VNC available on the App Store) as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hw7FIc258Ng. You also have the option of using a Touch screen based Windows PC, as shown here: https://www.aeswave.com/blog/Using-the- ... oves-.html (note that Windows 10 is designed to adapt its user interface based on the type of device being used and the available input methods).

Hello, there is another problem with Mac Computers. Now the processor was changed and it is ARM based. Is it supported now? If it become suppotred then i think will run on ipad because both machines have the same proccessor.
Also the picoscope 6 does not work with the latest MacOS operating system. The picoscope 7, early access works properly but it cannot support the XY view yet.
