Resolution Specifications for 5000 series A versus D

Post by BSI »

Hello,
I was looking at the data sheets of a 5000A series and 5000D scopes and found a difference I wasn't aware of. I just want to check if these are accurate:

* 5000A the spec sheet reads
Maximum effective resolution is limited on the lowest voltage ranges: ±10 mV = 8 bits • ±20 mV = 12 bits. All other ranges can use full resolution
* 5000D the spec sheet reads:
[2] On ±20 mV range, in 14 to 16-bit modes, hardware resolution reduced by 1 bit. On ±10 mV range, hardware resolution reduced by 1 bit in 12-bit mode, 2 bits in 14 to 16-bit
modes.
So presumably , 5000D would have a better resolution than the 5000A on the +/-20mV and +/- 10mV range, is this correct?

Thanks,
LDBM.
