"NO DATA" issue with picoscope=7.0.77-1r8819, ubuntu 20

Post by jimy-byerley »

Hello dear developers, I'm a new to picoscope and I'm facing some issues with my first try.
I have a picoscope 2204A and I tried to use it on my Ubuntu linux machine. I installed picoscope from the officiel repository with no issue.
When I run the provided usb compatibility tester I get this:

Code: Select all

jimy@genisis:~$ /opt/picoscope/share/doc/libps2000a/usbtest

****************************************************************************
* Pico Technology Linux USB Diagnostics *
****************************************************************************

This script looks for Pico USB devices connected to your computer
and checks whether you are able to access them. If your user account
does not have permission to access the devices, the script will try
to suggest how to correct this for your particular Linux installation.

Press enter to continue...

Getting user and group information...
 - You are running this script as jimy.
 - You are in the following groups:
jimy adm dialout cdrom sudo dip video plugdev lpadmin lxd sambashare

Please connect your Pico USB device and press enter to continue...

Pico USB device found: /dev/bus/usb/001/004

 - It belongs to root (which is not you) who has permissions rw-
 - The members of group root (which you are not in) have permissions rw-
 - Everyone else (this is you) has permissions rw-
 - You can write to this device and so will be able to use it.

jimy@genisis:~$ ls -lh /dev/bus/usb/001/004
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 189, 3 août 2 16:48 /dev/bus/usb/001/004
jimy@genisis:~$ groups
jimy adm dialout cdrom sudo dip video plugdev lpadmin lxd sambashare
So I suspect everything should be working fine, however when I run picoscope I get a popup with nothing but the text `NoData`
You can see a screenshot of that window as attachment, I couldn't get more detail from the software (Also the report window truely renders with light gray text on white background, that's not a joke ;) so there should be something going wrong in the app theme with my system dark theme ...)

Can you help me with this ? do you have any idea of what's wrong ?
Also I couldn't find a way to download an installer for version 6 to check if that's working or not.
Thanks in advance

system info:
- OS: ubuntu 20 (up to date)
- desktop: KDE
- CPU: amd ryzen 5 (architecture amd64)
- picoscope: 2204A directly connected via USB

Hello,
I have a Picoscope 2205 MSO since 2014.
My computer is on Ubuntu 21.04 and my scope works fine with the software Picoscope 6.
In order to test picoscope 7, i moved picoscope version 6 in another folder (i.e.: /opt/picoscope6)

I have installed the picoscope 7 beta (so in /opt/picoscope).

When I launch Picoscope 7 , I also got "NoData" like jimy-byerley !

Picoscope 7 doesn't access my 2205 MSO
