Measure large signal with a small measuring range

Post by wang4073 »

Hi,
I'm measuring an attenuation signal with a large range, and I'm more concerned about the smaller part of the signal. When I choose the measuring range that fits the largest part of the signal, the small part can't be measured accurately. A smaller measuring range can measure the small part of the signal well, but there will be a warning, which says the signal is over the measuring range.

I wonder if I can use a small measuring range to measure a large signal and if the operation will damage PICO.
If this operation is not allowed, then how can I measure the small part of the signal accurately?

Thanks!

It helps a lot if you explain what you are trying to measure.

AC or DC.

Voltage and the voltage range you are interested in.

and for safety reasons is it directly connected to mains voltage.
