PicoLog Frequency Measurement

Post by lazy_electron »

Hello,

The Pico FAQ document #11 suggests frequency measurement is possible.
https://www.picotech.com/download/manua ... stions.pdf

I would like to measure the frequency of a 20k - 50kHz logic-level square wave, ideally using the PicoLog1216 and PicoLog 6.1.18 (latest release) . I have poked around in the software but couldn't find a way.

Is this possible?

Thanks,
Kevin

PicoLog 6 samples at only 1kSample/second maximum and does not support Frequency Measurements.

The document you have linked to relates to the old PicoLog 5 software https://www.picotech.com/downloads/_lightbox/picolog-5
which will support this and works with the 1216

The alternative would be to use PicoScope 6 software https://www.picotech.com/download/softw ... _14_36.exe

OK, thanks Martin.

Suggestion for a future PicoLogger:
I have a microcontroller that can provide calibrated (complex calibration) readings from a couple of sensors. I am looking to plot these calibrated readings alongside various analog signals with PicoLog hardware/software. If there were a couple of channels that could be used to read in digital data in some form, that would be very useful. In the simplest form, reading a frequency or PWM duty cycle; but even better, reading a couple of 32bit numbers from a SPI port on my MCU, applying math and then plotting them would be ideal.

Regards
Kevin
