PicoLog, PicoScope and PicoLog1216

Post by SaturdayScience.UK »

Hi,
I have a brand new PicoLog1216 and am struggling with the PicoScope software.

I have PicoScope® 6 - PC Oscilloscope software version: 6.13.15.4081 that shows the logger to be
Model: PicoLog 1216
Serial Number: IW003/022
USB Version: 1.1
Calibration Date: 21 January 2021
Hardware Version: 1
Driver Version: 2.0.9.934
Firmware Version: 1.5.7.0

I alos have PicoLog software version6.1.18. It too shows the logger information as Driver version 2.0.54.2438
Calibration date 21 Jan 2021
Hardware version 1
Hardware variant PicoLog1216
Sample interval 1 ms

I have used the small terminal board and connected all C1 to C16 together. I have conducted two static experiments with both PicoLog and PicoScope. In one experiment I connected C1..C16 to GND. In the second I connected it to 2.5V on the board. I then attached a 100kOhm lin pot (one end to gnd, opposite end to 2.5V, and wiper to C1..C16).

With PicoLog the results were as follows:
C1..C16 connected to GND all readings were 0.0 to 1.1mV.
C1..C16 connected to 2.5V all readings over voltage
With the pot I can set and measure from 300µV to 2.49V and over voltage.

Closing the PicoLog and starting PicoScope I repeat the study with the following results

With C1..C16 connected to ground there is an overrange error on every channel.
With C1..C16 connected to 2.5V there is an overrange error on every channel.
With C1..C16 connected to the wiper I can get results in range but only when greater than circa 1mV. I can also get true over voltages at >2.5V.
If I use Zero All Ranges and short C1..C16 to ground the error message comes up - overrange.

How can this be so? PicoLog finds 0 to 1.1mV when grounded. It is as if PicoScope is finding negative voltages - but the circuit is the same. The GND is the card's GND.

Is there some crazy difference in the two drivers 2.0.54.2438 and 2.0.9.934?

Martyn,
Thanks. Do you have an idea of turnround time for support?

I was expecting you to have received a reply so I will chase up.

One point to note is that you are using an older version of PicoScope 6 6.13.15 hence the driver version differences, so it may be worth updating.
