PicoScope & 4444 reports incorrect current until restart
Bench tested old starter and new starter looking for differences as the ring gear was badly worn from bendix not fully engaging. First tests were old starter which worked without incident. Then test leads moved to new starter without a restart and the current values ( TA301 ) were seriously skewed ( overrange ) at the same 500A range that had just worked. I tried multiple times, changed to 2kA range which finally showed astronomical current ( wish I captured that one ). It's possible the computer had gone to sleep although I don't think so as that sometimes/usually results in having to restart PicoScope as the 4444 is no longer seen.. Getting current to read correctly required a restart of PicoScope. I'll try attaching waveforms for relevant, but I usually get an error message from forum website about filesize being too large even though the files don't exceed supposed limit.
