Vertical resolution discrepancy in Picoscope 6?

Post by alowell »

Hi,

I just made a similar post in the Linux sub-forum, although I'm noticing the same thing in the Windows version of Picoscope 6.

In the attached image, I'm measuring the LSB size in volts for an 8 bit Picoscope 3406D on +/- 500 mV scale. The measured LSB size about 4.7 mV. However, I would have guessed that it should be 500 mV / 127 = 3.94 mV, since the resolution is 8 bit. Any idea what is going on here?

Thanks

It is the scope calibration that causes the difference.

Every scope has some differences when it is fabricated. This is compensated with calibration parameters saved in the eeprom of the scope itself.
