channel overrange with TC-08

Post by julie.king »

i have been using the picolog 6 software alongside the TC-08 data logger for a while now and had no issues until today. I have not changed the experiment or the temperature of the water yet the software keeps telling me 'channel overrange'. I have been using either channels 2 or 3 and the water is normally around a temperature of 30 degrees at the end of the experiment so why is it all of a sudden overrange? I have now tried each of the channels but the same problem occurs.

Please help as i need this fixed ASAP as i am writing a research paper with a close deadline!!!!!!

Hi Julie,

This may be better handled on our help desk, as we will need a lot more information (with attachments) to look into this for you. So, could you send an email to support@picotech.com, and attach images of exactly how you have everything setup and connected, along with a diagram of the connections (if it's not obvious from the images), and a picolog data file of your working capture and an over-ranging one.

In the meantime, as a quick check:
1/ Are you running the Data Acquisition on a Laptop using Batteries?
2/ Are you allowing the tip of a thermocouple to touch a conductor that could be at Gnd potential?
3/ Do you have a thermocouple connector inserted the wrong way round/

Regards,
