which model for synthesizer use?

Post by pianopete »

Hi
I am tying to work out which model to buy to visualize waveforms and spectra from my synthesizers.

Would the 2204A do the job ?

Dear Pete,

Thanks for your post with regard to looking at signals from your synthesizers. To assist you further here please could provide some more information about your requirements.

Firstly what is the maximum Frequency of the signal you are going to be looking and secondly what is the maximum level of signals you want to measure ?

PicoScope 6 has a wealth of features available at your fingertips including FFT. Unlike the oscilloscope views which display amplitude vs time, the spectrum view reveals new detail by plotting amplitude vs frequency. The spectrum view is ideal for finding the cause of noise or crosstalk in a signal which often looks random in the time domain. It is also often the best mode for testing distortion, frequency response and stability of amplifiers, filters and oscillators. The spectrum analyzer in PicoScope is of the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) type which, unlike a traditional swept spectrum analyzer, has the ability to display the spectrum of a single, non-repeating waveform.

The 2204A has an analogue bandwidth of 10 MHz and is as an advanced oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, function generator, arbitrary waveform generator and protocol decoder out of the box.

Look forward to your response,

Kindest regards,

Stuart
