A new 2000 Series USB 'scope for Mercedes diagnostics

Hello,

Just a quickie to say that I have just received my 'scope model 2204a.

My 1992 Mercedes 300CE-24 has burned out 3 ignition modules (so called EZLs) in 1 year. EZLs for this car cost 2300€ in France, where I'm based, but 1200€ in Germany where I bought my last and only working EZL.

Something is burning these out and the 'scope is my hope for finding out what.

Mercedes forum members have suggested bad earths, alternator and/or starter motor (the impression is that these are burning out at startup due to a voltage spike or surge). A new alternator and starter motor are being installed tomorrow, after which my measurements will start.

So, if any brainy boys have suggestions as to where I should start probing, please come forward. You are needed in the cloudy Dordogne!
