TA189 to measure startup/in-rush current

Post by travlytle »

Hello,
I have a system I want to check the in-rush current at startup, would the TA189 be able to do this?

I'm guessing the system should only be about 1-2amps while running. The system is 12V dc.

Thanks,
Travis

Hi Travis,

The frequency bandwidth would be more than enough, you would just need to ensure that the clamp can manage the current peak and reproduce the voltage peak, so it would depend upon the expected peak current value. For instance in this specifc application: https://www.picoauto.com/support/topic21803.html?&p=98846&hilit=inrush+currrent#p98846 it would obviously be too low.

If your application is Automotive, you may also be better off posting your questions on the Picoauto forum.
