I want a picoscope for observing/troubleshooting canbus only on electric cars. Wouldn't a 2000 series four channel sufice?

Yes, canbus decoding is available on all scopes through the software, just make sure that the bandwidth and sampling rate of the scope are sufficient for the bit rate of the signal.
