picoscope 2204A

Post by henry p. pradilla »

my picoscope 2204A is reading a very wrong voltage. I measured a 12Vdc half wave converter with only one (1) diode and one (1) electrolytic polarized capacitor with a value of 10uF/50Vdc. I set my picoscope to 50V dc range, to my surprise an "over-range warning" pops up so I increase my range to 100V but still the warning pops up, so I increased to a higher range. Then I clicked on the measurement button to verify what will be the exact voltage, to my very surprise it reads 120Vdc. Why? Please tell me why? I really save a lot in order for me to purchase this expensive scope but it really breaks my heart of what is happening now. Please help me.

Can you post a data file showing the error, the fact that you can increase the range beyond 20V suggests that you have a custom probe enabled in the software set to x10, and the actual probe is not set the same.
