Streaming Capabilities of PicoScopes

Post by Wilfred Mason »

Hello,

I am looking to buy the PicoScope 2204A (>10 MHz bandwidth, >100 MS/s sampling rate, 12 bits). My main requirement is that I am able to store the data in my PC via USB. Based on the docs, its seems like the max stream rate is 1 MS/s. Can I increase this so that it is near the sampling rate. I am willing to use the SDK.

If not do you have a scope that can sample and stream data at 100 MS/s?

the 2204A is a 8 bit scope the 12 is achieved by averaging 256 samples (the actual number of samples can differ somewhere on the forum this is explained) so at 12 bit you get 100Ms / 256 = 390 kS/sec.

the maximum streaming with the 2204A is 1 MS/sec because its internal buffer is only 8k

so the 2204A is not the scope you need for this.
What type you need i leave to the Picotech crew to advise you on the right one.
