Unable to capture 20Mhz qwuare wave signals

Post by deepakKukreja »

Hi,

I just received my brand new Picoscope 5244D MSO.

To test I used the waveform generator to generate a 20 MHz square wave and then used Channel A to sample this generated waveform.

But the waveform displayed is a 20Mhz sine wave. Since 5244D MSO has a analog -3db bandwidth of 200MHz, It should be able to reproduce square wave signals easily upto 40Mhz.

Am I not setting up my scope right?

The analog input bandwidth is 200MHz so it can see 40MHz square waves as you describe, however the output bandwidth of the generator is 20MHz which is why it can only generate a 20MHz sine wave.

Thanks Martyn, I missed that specification.
