Hi Pico
I have the following probe:
TA042 - Oscilloscope Probe, Differential, 100 MHz, 1.4 kV, 100:1, 1000:1
Can I apply 1400V to the "+" terminal and -1400V on the "-" terminal measuring 2800V? (in 1:1000 setting, and the voltages are peak voltages.)
Will it measure correctly? Will it be damaged?

Hi Tune,
The Rating of ±1400 V is '+ or -', not '+ and -', so this means that the red probe can be a maximum of 1400V above the potential of the black probe tip, or a maximum of 1400V below the potential of the black probe. So applying 2800V will damage the probes.
