ADC-212/50 - Continuous measurement

Post by villemin »

Hi,

I intend to use an ADC-212/50 to acquire in continous one signal, the sampling rate is 1 MHz, transfer data to the PC and make FFT analysis.

Does this product meet this specification?

Please let me know

Hi,

The ADC-212/50 takes samples in to a memory buffer. This buffer is 128k in size for each channel. The data is stored in this and downloaded when either the number of samples requested is reached or the buffer is full. Due ot this the ADC212/50 cannot sample continuously, since during the download period from ADC212/50 to PC it is unable to sample.

However, the ADC-212/50 will produce FFT traces in the spectrum analyser, part of the Picoscope software.

It can measure frequencies of 25 MHz bandwidth on both channels.

Best regards,
Regards,

ADC-212/50, transfer rate to PC

Hi,

Could you please specify the transfer rate to download the data buffer to RAM of the PC using parallel port and serial interface?

Thanks and best regards

Hi,

I can only give you an approximation this is based on a 100kHz download rate:

It is possible to download just the channel you require. To transfer back the full 128K buffer then: -

both channels this will take about 7.68 seconds
one channel this will take about 3.84 seconds

If less data readings are taken then the download time is reduced. There is also approximately 55ms between the initialisation of each run before the download starts.

Best regards,
