External sine generator with FRA4picoscope

Post by zymorg »

Hi,

I own a 3403D MSO and using FRA4picoscope for frequency response and Bode plots. Unfortunately, the built in AWG is limited to 1MHz. A 5000 series scope, unfurtunately, is beyond budget so I'm in search of a cheaper solution.

Here's my question to the FRA4ps experts: Is it possible to use an external (programmable) sine generator instead of the inbuilt one? In my understanding, the tricky part is the "synchronisation" between AWG and signal from the DUT to correctly measure the phase shift.

Thanks in advance!

The FRA directly controls the signal generator as it builds up the phase and magnitude plot, you would need to rewrite it to control an external generator.

To check how feasible this I would suggest you re-post your questions to the author in the following topic Frequency Response Analyzer with Bode Plots

OK thanks, I reposted it.

My idea was to split the different topics a little bit for the thread is already quite long.

The repost can be found on page 24 or 25.
