Rise Time specification for 2206B AWG

Post by CuriousCorn »

Hi all,

A new owner of a shiny Picoscope 2206B here :-)

I was playing around with the scope and the AWG that is built into it (which runs up to 1 MHz for this model). And I am finding that the rise time (and fall time) of the square wave is around 200 ns! This is surprising. A 1 MHz square wave with that rise time does not look much like a square wave. The rise time is constant over the whole frequency range.

Is this correct? What are the specifications for rise/fall time of the AWG?

- thanks and best regards,
Chris

The output bandwidth of the generator on the 2206B is 1MHz, so you can generate a 1MHz sine wave, but the fastest square wave that can reasonably be generated is 200kHz.

You can also look up the PicoScope 2000 series spcifications here and find that the rise time (10% to 90%) for the 2206B AWG is specified to be less than 120 ns.

You can easily add a rise time measurement in the PicoScope software to verify that the scope is within spec.
