Zoom not working correctly?

Post by terrypin »

I zoomed in on my captured signal. But whatever method I used to get back to the normal x1 view, that froze the program.

EDIT: Just tried this on my Win 10 PC with the demo option (sine wave default) - and that works OK, both dragging the scroll bar or the rectangle in the small overview window.

EDIT 2: So, any idea why I'm getting this problem on my XP PC please?

Hi Terry,

The Demo version should also work on your XP machine, as it doesn't need to communicate with any hardware (which is where the problem arises).

Could you answer the following questions, and send your answers into our helpdesk via support@picotech.com:

What version picoScope 6 are you using?
What PicoScope model are you using?
What Version of Windows XP are you using (does it have all of the service packs and updates)?
What is computer are you running the software on?

Hi Gerry,
Yes, but it's easier to take the data to the house by USB stick. The shed PC is set up for real use with the 2205A.

Could you answer the following questions, and send your answers into our helpdesk via support@picotech.com:
Copying here in the forum too, in case anyone else has advice.

What version picoScope 6 are you using?
6.11.10.1540, the last one for XP if I recall correctly.

What PicoScope model are you using?
2205A

What Version of Windows XP are you using (does it have all of the service packs and updates)?
XP Home SP3 Build 2600

What is computer are you running the software on?

'MESH Matrix', 1 GB

Hi Terry,

It's not the data that is the problem though. As I mentioned, the problem is the communication.

With the setup in your shed, every time you zoom you're asking the PicoScope hardware to send a new set of data. So, the freeze in operation is happening because the software is waiting for the data, which has been interrupted due to a communication lapse between the PicoScope Hardware and the PicoScope software. When you save a psdata file you are saving the already transferred data, so zooming around data that is already on your computer in your house is not going to cause any problems.

Is the MESH Matrix a 32-bit machine?

Hi Gerry,

Yep, 32-bit. Made around 1899!

I guess it's looking like the USB speed problem I discussed previously with you (phone) and Martyn (here).

Do you agree?

because you are streaming I would be tempted to increase the number of samples requested for each screen, as discussed on another thread.
