Assertion failed!

Post by oldie »

I am using a DrDAQ with a parallel to USB adaptor, then via a USB to cat5e extender unit so I can monitor my DRDAQ 15 metres away on either a laptop or a PC. Both fail after a few hours running with an Assertion Failure error. I am using the latest software. Any help would be appreciated. I attach a screen print.

Hello oldie,

The problem you describe is well known and is very likely due to the USB extender. I know of no standard for these devices and performance appears to be highly variable between device manufacturers.

We have looked at a number of USB/CAT5 extenders, but have yet to find one which operates reliably for more than 8 hours or so on a range of platforms.

John

Ok, picojohn, thanks for the information. Just for the record, it worked OK all day today. Would an earlier version of software be better for my application? Regards, Oldie

Hi Oldie,

Good to learn that you've had success!

I know of no reason why an older version of software should improve performance.

John
