Latest Picoscope SW seems to have broken the active filter

Post by bmckee »

I was using .2 beta from April and was having issues with noise... I decided to upgrade to the latest stable (July 2) .6 version.

However, when I enable the active filter for channel C it does not switch on. It works in the Beta version.

Also, on the April beta, when I select the "..." next to the probe type and select a probe type, it doesn't actually change anything. I have to choose from the pull down list (the upside-down carrot) to get it to change. Is that the desired behavior?

I'm running the beta for now.

I can give you more details when I get my account logged in on the lab machine.

A psdata file showing your settings would be useful then we can test it out here.

I don't have time at the moment to reinstall the software, set it up, grab the psdata file and then remove the software again.

Try this:
1. Connect a 5444B to PC with Windows 10 Home 64 bit.
2. Run the software.
3. Hook a 30 A current probe to channel C.
4. Enable 16 bit sampling.
5. Put the probe on a noisy wire.
6. Enable the active filter and watch waveform. For me and the latest software, it didn't do anything to my noisy signal. But with the April Beta version, the KHz filter completely eliminated the signal along with the noise, which is the expected outcome.

I'll try to get to the psdata file later this week.

No need, this may be linked to the use of 16 bit which restricts the device to one channel. I will check when back in the office tomorrow.

Update: I am able to enable the filter, so we will need to see the psdata file
