Hi, this question is similar to one already asked soem time ago but I did not see the reply so I ask it again.
I would like to build a custom probe, for example to test presssure. There are plenty of cheap sensors available that are fed with 5V.
Do I need to use a signal generator to supply 5v and one channel to read the output signal or is it for some reason better to provide an external power supply to the sensor?
thanks
how to feed sensors
Re: how to feed sensors
The Signal Generator has not been designed to provide power for external sensors so you would need to supply any power externally.

Re: how to feed sensors
You could use a signal gen as a power source but it is not wise to do so...
usually the can't handle any power if your luky the are short circuit protected, but if you overdraw a signal gen the wavefor distorts and it doesn't look like it should on its output
just don't do it and buy a used lab powersupply can't go wrong with that

thanks guys, no problem, can assemble a 5v power supply pretty quickly.
