CAN FD diagnostics

Post by Lith74 »

Not sure if this is where this should go. However I am working on a 2018 Freightliner New Cascadia 500k baud rate that has some weird CAN communication fault codes and I have quite a few questions.
So I am using the CAN FD feature in the PicoScope and I can see that there are failures in the log indicated by a red symbol. There is a "CRC Valid", "Bit Stuffing Valid" and a "Valid" that looks like on or 2 seem to fail. What do these mean?

My next question is how do I determine what ID goes with what module? Is there some kind of translation key? One of the ID's is 03 DD FF 7D, another is 07 FF 89 88 and at another point there is no ID logged. Thanks in advance for any help.

the frames are invalid because they are not fully captured.

Depending on the scope type and the amount of memory in the scope you can increase the time base to 10 or even 100 ms / div.
As long as the sample rate stays above 5MS/sec
settings for 10ms / div
10ms settings.jpg
settings for 100ms / div (preferred)
100ms settings.jpg
